Stories make us feel. We feel compassion. Joy. Fear, empathy, or amazement because of stories. Editing, at its purest form, is storytelling. If you can’t tell a compelling narrative, you won’t edit good videos.

After the foundation is laid, the story must be set. This is where edit prep is key.

Chefs chop their ingredients before they cook. Artists mix their acrylics before they paint. Editors prep their timelines and understand their stories before they edit.

In this module, we’ll explore how to create the skeleton of an edit, through concepts like:

The difference between an amateur edit and a professional one is the finish & export process. Audio leveling, color grading, and quality export settings are key here.

• How to network your way to Justin Bieber (ok, maybe not specifically Justin, but I’ll show you how relationships land dream clients).

Absolutely! Each editing software has basically the same functions give or take minor features just like an oven is an oven. You can bake the same cake in all kinds of different ovens. However, if you want to learn how to make a cake you’re not going to look at the oven manual, you’re going to look at the recipe. All of the concepts that I teach won’t be taught in your “how to use x software” class. What I demonstrate is how to edit, or the “recipe” to edit. Not how to use a particular piece of software, but how to create videos.

Lots of times ideas come while you are editing, not before you edit! The experience of sitting down at your editing station with a pile of footage and the potential for anything to happen is exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. JUST DO IT and we will help you along the way. I’ll show you how to take a pile of footage and mold it into the best story you can make it. Remember you can always hit that undo button :)

I got you covered. When you enroll in the course, I will be supplying you with hours of media, including 8K raw RED footage, so you can start creating your incredible videos right away! Of course, if you would rather use your own footage there is nothing wrong with that but I’ll have stuff ready for you to work your magic on!

You can do it. It just takes a little bit of patience and an ability to commit to the bit! This course will include step-by-step instruction to guide you through each lesson clearly and thoroughly but remember if you ever get stuck in your particular software, pause the lesson and ask anyone in the discord community. There are hundreds of people ready to help and cheer you on! I’ll also have links to amazing resources to help you get familiar with the software you are using :)

This course is all go at your own pace. When learning, editing slow and steady wins the race, and it leaves a little more time to mess around and really understand the concepts. The community will always be here to help you out!

Your computer certainly does not need to be blazing fast but it also should not be a dinosaur. I suggest looking up the minimum system requirements for the editing software you will be using.

If you want to turn editing into a career it's all about who you know. You can learn a lot online for free but you won't get the community, network, and accountability you get with TEF VIP. You could be surfing the web for hours before you find what you are looking for. I recommend learning directly from professionals while getting to know them so you can land that job later :)
